Influential Child Care Training
Influential Child Care Training

The Supervision course is for MANAGEMENT AND SENIOR STAFF only. We regularly run the Supervision course at public training events and it is available as personalised distance learning. We do offer it as an in house course for all senior staff if you wish but it is more cost effective to run it as telephone and email training.

There are three new regulations in the new EYFS on this topic (3.19, 3.20, 3.22 ) and
Supervision has a high impact at inspection. Inspectors are currently basing one third of their overall judgement on the management of staff. If you want to check this information please copy and paste the following link in to your web browser:

Course Objectives

The purpose of this course is to enable providers and managers to be able to meet the
regulations set in “The safeguarding and welfare requirements in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage”. The course will give you the chance to look at not only what is required but what is best practice. You will have the opportunity to discuss ideas and to practice in a safe environment. From this training you should be confident to write forms to use in supervision and make changes to your employees terms and conditions and handbook. It has an immediate impact on staff performance at inspection.

Course Outline

Exploring the benefits to both providers/managers and to members of your staff team

Confidentiality – the rules of supervision

Meeting the regulations

Considering why the topics have been set in regulation. Exploring some of the ambiguous
statements to ensure you are able to meet these regulations. Looking at what must be covered, but also including best practice. This will ensure you are able to explain and show how these requirements are met at inspection.

The impact of good quality supervision at Inspection

Exploring how inspectors make their judgements

A practical session

This session gives an opportunity to look at how to prepare for supervision. Best practice
guidelines on beginning the sessions and on closing them. There is also a chance to practice tackling difficult and sensitive topics.

Developing and using supervision forms

A chance to ensure all the information you need can be captured on one form. Giving you the opportunity to develop your own forms and ensure they are both legally secure and are acceptable to Ofsted. We also explore some issues with regard to employment law. Staff’s ability to perform at inspection is developed using a system that can be adopted by all.

Sample forms are offered.
